Partly Facetious: Fog and Zardari two forces that can close down Motorway
"What hit the motorway?"
"Whatever do you mean? The political motorway or...?"
"You are getting rather philosophical, aren't you? Political motorway, indeed!"
"Well with the detailed Supreme Court judgement which refers to Philippines' President Marcos and the corrupt Abacha of Nigeria..."
"Hey there is a difference between our President and those two jokers."
"What? That those two were actually in power while President Zardari was not in power? You can have it one way or the other. I mean either the President was politically victimised in which case he used the good office of his spouse or else he was not in power therefore his source of wealth is no concern of yours."
"Well, the difference between President Zardari and the other two was that while those two were apprehended after a stint in power our home grown president is being held accountable for a time when he personally was not in power but now is in power."
"What does that mean?"
"The trichotomy of powers..."
"Want to join the law firm of Messrs Awan and Awan."
"I am not a lawyer."
"Which is why that is the only firm that may possibly hire you as a Jiyala, I mean given the extremely poor quality work coming out from that firm..."
"Why can't the President hire competent lawyers at least. I mean I can understand him preferring loyalists rather than competence in appointing ministers but they say in the case of a lawyer or doctor preference must be given to competence otherwise the repercussions are many."
"Dr Asim is working out alright."
"But the President does not have any serious ailment yet, while he does have serious legal problems."
"I see, but that is not what I meant when I said what hit the Motorway?'
"What did you mean?"
"Well, apparently fog and the President are the two forces that can close down the Motorway. Sharifs eat your heart out for all the credit you took for building the Motorway!"
"One is an act of God..."
"No fog is also an act of man - the pollution..."
"I see, so both man-made!"
"As in most things in our Republic."
